Sayings Saturday

Oh my goodness!  I missed a Saturday.  I feel terrible.  (Not that anyone else cares, but I do!)  Last weekend was craziness.  The storm that came through on Friday night took our power and I didn't get any back until late Sunday night.  Then the phone line (that provides the Internet) wasn't completely back until Tuesday.  Then I discovered the modem wasn't working.  A phone call to Frontier resulted in an order for a new modem which should be arriving today or Monday.  So, the only reason I have Internet access today is because I am visiting Family!  Yikes.  I didn't mind the no power too much; I'm used to not having all house AC, I don't have a microwave (and my stove still works) but no Internet kills me.  Thank goodness for my Blackberry and a car charger!  My saving grace.  (I also did some wash in the bathtub!  That's right, I can be really resourceful when I want to be!  I did get a lot of reading done too!)

Anyway, sorry for the lack of blogging.  No Sayings Saturday; I have 3 sets of photos to do!  I am so far behind.  And I have things to do this weekend!  I'll try to get one set of photos done at least, promise!  But, for now here is Sayings Saturday #19.  A week late, but still here.  It is very apropos for my life right now.  I am a bit lost and trying to find my way.  Sometimes the path isn't well marked; you just have to push through and find it.  Even if it hurts and other people look down on you.

Sayings Saturday

How is it that sometimes I almost forget Sayings Saturday?  I've done this 14 times now, so for over 3 months and I almost forgot?! Again?!  Seriously.  I am a terrible blogger lately!  I really need to improve.  Plus, I haven't been hiking.  And, there is no way I'm going today.  Maybe tomorrow I will go in the evening.  During the day it will be too hot.  I am thinking of going out to the beach at Strouds Run to just laze in the water?  Maybe I'll post it on my Meetup group and see if anyone is game to drive down to Athens tomorrow or Monday to laze with me at Strouds in the Lake then hike in the evening when it cools off.  Its a thought.  Anyway, I'll try to take some photos if I do AND actually post them.  I still have a set of photos left to post from Dawes Arboretum, a set from Pickerington Ponds, some random photos of the kidos (blurried of course) from the past few weeks), AND several sets of photos from Battelle Darby Creek from weeks ago.  I am a horrid blogger!!!!  Forgive me.  I just haven't been in the mood to edit photos lately (what is that?).  But, PicMonkey has done an upgrade and I'm so curious about it, maybe that will give me a boost!   (If you've never been to PicMonkey, that is where I do all my photo editing now and I adore it.  Please check it out.  When they start charging, I will be the first person to pay up and enter in my credit card because I won't mind paying for the service!  They are awesome!  Check out the site here. )

Anyway, back to the focus of this blog.  This photo was actually shot at Pickerington Ponds.  It as a total fluke and I did not expect that I would actually get the photo of the butterfly.  But, I DID!  Yippee.  So, yes, this is a real butterfly, not pasted on.  I love it and am so proud of this photo.  I hope you like it.  Enjoy Sayings Saturday.  I'm so glad I remembered before I got into my next Korean Drama on Netflix!

Sayings Saturday

On a quick note, please do not read anything into this. Thank you.  It is just a saying and something I feel and have felt for a long time.  I also don't believe in 'soul mates' or fairy tales.  They all sound nice, but are fallacies we create to make ourselves feel better.  Wow, I'm a buzz kill.  Happy Saturday!

Sayings Saturday

I felt this saying needed a little explanation.  I love trees.  This should be obvious from other posts.  I am a tree huger.  Literally, I have been known to hug trees and I often encourage the kids in my care to do the same.  Trees Rock Solid!

I believe trees have a deep spirit and are a major part of the balance and rhythm of the earth and not just in the typical biological ways.  When I hike, I am always on the look out for my favorite tree of the hike.  I also like to touch trees.  Just to connect with them and with nature.  I know it sounds odd, but that is me.

On a side note, every day I wear a set of jewelry that has trees on them.  The Tree of Life.  The Tree of Life is mentioned in all major religions and is in the Bible from Genesis through Revelations.  Thus, my love of trees is strong, deeply rooted and I don't think will ever go away.

So, today I encourage you to get out and touch a tree.  If, for no other reason than the sensory experience of the feel of the bark, (and all bark is very different).  But, it can also be your way to connect with nature, say thank you for the air you breathe, and find a deeper connection with the world and the spirit of all living things.

Thanks for listening to my rant.
